Good at: 0 to 4 feet
At the bottom of McKoy's rapid, a horseshoe-shaped pit forms before the flatwater paddle to either of the middle or main channels. This pit is separated in the centre by a green tongue which is your target for getting through at most levels. Each side of the pit has happy levels and scary levels. We'll tell you the happy levels.
The best level by far for Rightside Horseshoe is at about 3.5 feet, but can be enjoyed up to 4 feet and as far low as 0 feet. At higher flows, a fun, slower, easy, small wave forms on the river right shore at the bottom of McKoy's. It eventually becomes a great fluffy hole. At lower flows, this feature becomes shallow at surfer's right and can be the source of dented and broken boats. We call this area "The Pit".
As the level drops below 0, the river right tongue becomes a good place for aerial wave moves. Just avoid getting tossed into The Pit.
